Ismini Phillips

I am a qualified Pilates Teacher, Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist, Salsa and Zumba Instructor offering a variety of classes from beginner to advanced, including specialist exercise classes for those returning to exercise.

I have been interested in dance and fitness from a very young age and have a varied teaching background. I took up Pilates during pregnancy with my third child as I had previously suffered with back pain, including sciatica, and was determined to prevent these ailments from reoccurring.

I found that Pilates was the answer to my problems and was able to continue with Pilates classes and salsa teaching throughout my pregnancy and well into my third trimester. I have been teaching Pilates since 2007 and have a broad range of knowledge gained from various bodies including Alan Herdman, the APPI, Future Fit and Body Control Pilates. I gained my Level 3 Pilates Teacher Certification with Future Fit Training and Body Control Pilates.I am qualified as a Back4Good Practitioner and registered as a Back Care Practioner with the Back Care Charity having gained my Level 4 Low Back Pain Certification with Body Control Pilates.  This qualification enables me to run Back4Good and Healthy Back classes and I work with many clients who have low back pain and other problems such as scoliosis.

I have also recently been Certified as a Pink Ribbon Program Breast Cancer Exercise Specialist specifically created for breast cancer survivors and have been offered the opportunity to train as a Teacher / Instructor Trainer for the Pink Ribbon Program. I begin this training in mid-January 2012.

I offer a confidential and holistic approach and by teaching Pilates and Zumba I am helping my clients with postural problems, abdominal and core strength, back problems, rehabilitation after injury or surgery, cardiovascular fitness, post cancer care, ante and post natal fitness.

I receive many referrals to my classes from osteopaths and physiotherapists, working in conjunction with them in encouraging the healing process through effective exercise which improves their overall confidence and quality of life.
